Photos: Senate President Bukola Saraki receives German President at the National Assembly

The President of Germany, Joachim Gauck, visited the National Assembly, Abuja, today, February 11. According to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, their discussions was focused on ways that Nigeria and Germany can foster stronger ties and bonds, as well as collaborate on economic, security, and legislative issues.


Saraki said:

"Nigeria has much to learn from Germany, and much to gain from stronger Nigerian-German relations. In this regard, I called on the German government and the European Union to lend us their unflinching support and solidarity in order for us to fully eliminate terrorism from the West African sub region. I believe that every effort in these crucial areas is a paramount investment in the areas of regional stability, security and development"

Lagos High Court Dismisses Saraki’s application to stop his CCT trial

A Federal High Court in Lagos has struck out a suit by Senate President Bukola Saraki, trying to stop his arrest, prosecution and trial at the Code of Conduct tribunal in Abuja. The presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba held that the court lacks jurisdiction to hear the application. CCT rules that Saraki' trial must continue, adjourns to Nov. 19th for trial

The Code of Conduct Tribunal has ruled that Senate President Bukola Saraki's trial must continue. Saraki is standing trial on a 13 count charge of false asset declaration while he was governor of Kwara state. The Code of Conduct Tribunal in its ruling, said the trial must continue despite Saraki's appeal at the Supreme court. Saraki files appeal at the Supreme Court

Senate President Bukola Saraki has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court against the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja which affirmed the jurisdiction of Code of Conduct Tribunal ( CCT ) to try him on 13 count charge of false assets declaration while he was governor of Kwara state.
The Court of Appeal on October 30th in its ruling stated that the CCT had the constitutional authority to try the senate president.

Court of Appeal dismisses Saraki's appeal

The Abuja division of the court of Appeal has dismissed the appeal filed by senate president, Bukola Saraki challenging his trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The appeal court dismissed all 5 issues raised by Saraki in the appeal. Two of the three panel of judges ruled that his appeal lacks merit. This implies that the Code of Conduct will still go ahead with Saraki's trial.

PDP senators declare confidence in Saraki as Senate president

PDP senators say despite the row that followed the confirmation of Rotimi Amaechi yesterday, they still have strong confidence in the leadership of the senate president, Bukola Saraki.
